Summary
His brain plays back the conversation he had earlier with Christopher’s teacher. How she thought he was Chris’ father. How she kept referring to him as Christopher’s parent. How it made him feel bad because he wasn’t, and it was like he was unrightfully taking a title that belonged to Eddie. Even if it was just one teacher at school.
He feels guilty that he didn’t correct her.
At first he thought it was because he didn’t want to embarrass her, didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable. But he quickly realized it's probably because he doesn't really mind being seen as Chris’ father. Which felt unfair to Eddie-his actual father- and to Christopher. Because Buck has no right to be considered as Christopher’s parent. Has no right to see Chris– to love him like a son.
(or, four times buck gets mistaken for christopher’s father and the one time he actually is)

Summary
Eddie feels like his heart is going to beat out of his chest.
There’s a guy, in full turnout gear, hanging from a ladder truck. And it isn’t night time, it’s not raining– Buck is right next to him, breathing– but Eddie still feels like he’s right back to two years ago. Right back to seeing Buck lifelessly hanging from the ladder.
He’s going to throw up.
(or the body hanging from the ladder isn't buck, but eddie freaks out anyways)

Summary
Eddie’s couch is probably Buck’s favorite place on earth. Anywhere Eddie is, is Buck's favorite place on earth. But in that moment, as he sits with the idea of Eddie moving eight-hundred miles away, Buck hates the way the blue plush fabric feels against his skin. He hates the way the cushion sinks with the familiarity of his weight. He hates the fact that, after Eddie moves, he will never get to sit on his couch again.
It isn’t about the couch. Buck knows it isn’t about the couch.
Buck hates that after Eddie moves, 4995 S. Bedford street will no longer be home. Eddie will no longer be home.
(or, eddie is leaving and buck is cool about it. only, he isn’t)

Summary
Eddie shrugs. “We can just order in, it's fine.” He turns to look at Buck, mirrors his position from his spot next to the sink. “You do know you don’t have to cook every night, Buck.”
“I feel bad.” Buck admits. “I’m staying over, you buy groceries, you do laundry, you drive us to work. I wanna repay you somehow.”
Eddie shakes his head. “You’re staying over because I asked you to. I do those things because you’re my best friend and I want you to be comfortable. You don’t have to do anything to repay me.” He pauses, looks right at Buck. “You do enough by just existing by my side.”
(or, buck offers his apartment to bobby and athena, and living with eddie is easy.)

Summary
He couldn't hear Buck's voice anymore, and honestly, Eddie didn't know if he wanted to. He didn't want to hear about how Tommy surprised Buck and showered him with love and affection with a final promise to love him forever.
No, it had to be a prank. A sick one, Eddie would say.
Evan, his Buck, couldn't be getting married to someone else.
Or: Tommy and Buck get engaged, and Eddie has to face his feelings.
