Summary
Arthur woke up with a start, the remnants of a dream lingering in his mind. In the dream, Mary-Beth had been sitting in his lap, her eyes filled with warmth as they made love by the river. It felt so real that he could almost hear her moans. Shaking his head, he tried to clear his thoughts. Why am I dreaming about Mary-Beth like that? Get it together, Morgan. She’s just a friend.
Exiting his tent, Arthur tried to shake off the dream and focus on the day ahead. He rubbed his eyes and muttered a greeting as he approached the campfire. "Mornin', everyone."
John Marston looked up from his coffee and smirked. "Mornin', Arthur. You look like you’ve seen a ghost."
"Nah, just a strange night," Arthur replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
Karen Jones, always quick to tease, laughed. "Strange? Like dreamin' about someone special?"
Arthur felt a blush creeping up his neck. "What? No, nothin' like that."

Arthur spoke up again. “You say that you don’t always write from your own perspective?”
Mary-Beth shook her head. “Nope. ‘s more fun to have a character say what I’m thinking. Often times it gets my thoughts more organized too.”
“Don’t you write romance stories though? How the hell does that work?”
“Well, oftentimes I have one character say what I’m thinkin’ before the other comes and... comforts them.” she blushed, realizing what she was saying, and that she couldn’t just outright tell Arthur that the “comforting” she spoke of really meant “fucking”, and that the character which did so was always him.
“Listen, I know this might be askin’ a bit much, but do you mind if I could maybe see what you write? You know, as an example of sorts.”
Or: Arthur reads Mary-Beth's journal and things only get better from there

“Sometimes I wish I were a horse.” Mary Beth says, dropping to sit beside Tilly and Karen as she takes up some mending.
“What? Why?” Tilly stares over at her like she’s grown a second head.
“I can guess.” Karen smirks, glances to the other side of camp where their horses are tethered. Arthur’s there, patiently brushing and plaiting the mane of his newest mount, a tall dappled grey thoroughbred. She drops her voice into an imitation of masculinity. “Who’s my good girl? Ain’t you the prettiest lady ever?”
Mary Beth flushes and buries her head in her hands.
