Summary
Derek blows some more smoke out. He chooses to look at Stiles’ mouth instead of in his eyes, again. “I need you to bring someone back.”
“Back.”
“From the dead.”
“Absolutely not,” Stiles scoffs, shaking his head. “Not for you, not for all the money in the world.”
Derek looks at him, just looks. He is not going to accept no for an answer, and Stiles knows it, but it doesn’t matter, because Stiles will not do that. He cannot do that, not again. “Why not for me in specific?”

Summary
“Then why wouldn’t you be Derek’s emissary?” Stiles asked. He just wished Deaton would get to the fucking point. He was tired and he hated playing twenty questions to figure out what the older man was getting at.
“Derek’s emissary needs to be someone who he trusts completely,” Deaton explained, “and it’s time I passed on my wisdom and expertise to that person.”
The beat of silence between them stretched for too long before Stiles realized exactly who Deaton was talking about.
“Me?” He asked incredulously.

Summary
A few months ago, he might’ve been able to solve this with some force—a little man-handling, a snarl, a glimpse of teeth. But he looks at Stiles’s broken face, knows he’s seen too much horror and blood and evil, the whole Big Bad Wolf routine is just going to fall flat. Because Derek looks at Stiles and he doesn’t carry himself like a teenager anymore. He carries himself like a soldier.

He peels the domino off of Tim’s face. The blown blood vessels are back in the whites of Tim’s eyes, and the dark circles are dire again, blue-purple and sunk in deep.
“You wanna tell me how much sleep you didn’t get today?” Jason says.
Tim’s insomnia is out of control. Jason helps.

Summary
The first letter arrived right to Tim's desk.
He didn’t think much of it at first. It was a plain white thing, a tidy little card tucked unobtrusively in amongst the stack of memos and reports from other departments that his secretary had left on his desk. He spent several minutes getting settled before he even really glanced at it.
Finally, he began scanning his stack, zeroing in on the card only because it looked more interesting than a memo.
The cardstock was good quality. It landed in his palm with a satisfying schlak.
The handwriting on the card was… odd.
Neat, perfectly legible, but shaky - like a child anxiously practicing their letters. It was so nice speaking with you the other day, it read. I hope you’ll make time for me again sometime soon!
It was punctuated with a little crooked smiley face that had been crossed out and redrawn, too carefully to look natural. The eyes were perfect, ballpen circles.
