"I know what my son did to you, he forced a bond."
Those were her first words to him while Benson was at the supermarket buying something to eat. As soon as they had both entered, the first thing he had noticed was the gloominess of the place, and after a brief greeting, he also noticed that the hostility of this woman was greater than her son's efforts to create a pleasant atmosphere.
"Mrs. Walker—" Randy began, but he was interrupted.
“You don't love him and I understand, Benson is...hard to love”

Summary
The first time he brought him to a party, everyone thought they were friends. When Benson went to the bathroom, they started looking at Randy as if he had two heads and told him they didn't think he should hang out with people like him.
He never received so many condescending looks as when he told them they were together. Yes, perhaps he had some things to improve, like his bad temper when something frustrated him, his stubbornness, and his way of bottling up his feelings when it would be better to talk... but Randy was working on it, he could fix him, seriously.

Thomas would sleep with any woman or man who crossed his path, even within his circle of friends, just not Newt.
"Why?" That question had been tormenting him from the start, from the day they met when he laughed at all of Newt's jokes and invaded his personal space with an arm around his chair. The chemistry was there, the tension making them pause every three words to gaze into each other's eyes and take sips from their glasses.
It should have happened that night, but it didn't. And when Thomas put his number in his phone and said they should be friends, his hopes began to falter.

In all honesty, Thomas really wasn’t one to think things through. Maybe if he was, he would have thought twice before letting a stranger sleep on his couch. It probably would have helped his mom sleep better at night if she knew her son had somewhat of a survival instinct and didn’t let a potential gang member into his house.
