    Summary

"Sort of feel like the client might have mentioned this bit," says Charles, and in all honesty, Edwin could not possibly agree more.

The brownstone in which they stand is a grand thing for its time, all but overflowing with furniture that was in fashion before Edwin was born. The sofa is rather overwrought, with a dreadful pattern and elaborate scroll arms. The legs of the coffee table are intricately carved, and the wallpaper is an unattractive shade of green, crawling with painted vines and small bursts of flowers.

And every last bit of it, every piece of furniture, most of the wall, and a good portion of the ceiling, is absolutely overrun by mistletoe.

    Summary

“For someone who claims not to like thinking,” Edwin says, raising an eyebrow, “you do a remarkably good job of it.”

Charles laughs. “Tell that to my old teachers, mate.”

“If they disagree, then they can’t be very qualified.” Edwin says this simply, like it’s just a fact of life. Like it’s plainly obvious that if anyone thinks Charles is stupid, it’s they who are at fault.

Or: Charles grew up poor and is likely to stay that away, his job at the magic store notwithstanding. By the time he meets Edwin, he's decided that he wants a new life. In between figuring out what's up with the mysterious wish-granting pigeons, and whether he can go to the Royal Ball, Edwin makes him want to take a chance on being happy as well.

    Summary

When it was just him turning feelings round in his head, that was one thing, wasn't it? But it's Edwin who looks at him out of the corner of his eye now, when he thinks Charles isn't looking. And it's Edwin who goes stiff when Charles touches him and then melts into it. And it's Edwin who gets all prissy and properly defensive when he's trying to cover up he's been staring.

And if it was just Charles, well, he's been fighting down the way his chest goes sort of fluttery every time Edwin touches him for about three decades, hasn't he?

But it's not just Charles anymore, is the thing.

    Summary

“The Greatest of the Greeks could perhaps do better,” Patroclus says.

Zagreus sinks to the ground. The waters of the Styx rise around his body, red as the blood he inexplicably bleeds. “I’ll tell him you said that,” are his final words, almost drowned out by the shades and their bloodthirsty cheering.

An AU with Patroclus as the Champion of Elysium. In Zagreus’s blood splattered on the eternally green fields of Elysium, Achilles finds an opportunity to catch Patroclus’s attention.
