Once, Eames had been the best blade runner in the Bay Area. Now, he lives with the physical and mental scars of the violence that ended his career. Eking out a living as a freelance replicant detector, he meets the inscrutable Arthur, a data analyst for Cobol who is very obviously hiding something. Eames' professional--and personal--fascination breaks Eames out of the rut he's been existing in for years, but also poses some dangerous questions he may not have the courage to answer.
