The briny ocean, born of the human spirit, is endless, always overflowing.
The ocean mixes everything together, and the ocean remains the ocean.
Splashes of happiness melt away and become the ocean.
Lumps of sadness melt away and become the ocean.
Surprise, fear, shame pride...All things melt and become the ocean.
When a person peers into the ocean within, strangely, they find peace.
They find peace, and they think to themselves:

    Summary

Then with the plates rinsed, he'd all but thrown them into the dishwasher, slamming it closed. "I just—I don't get it. Why can't you come to me? Every time, every fucking time. Christ, sometimes, Buck, I just can't with you—you can be so fucking stupid sometimes!"

And as soon as the words had left his mouth, he'd regretted them, especially with the way Buck had flinched back, curling an arm around his midsection with a wobbly smile.

"Yeah, um, I know—I know that I can be," Buck had stuttered, then taken a step back when Eddie took one closer, dodging his hand that he'd reached out in comfort—an apology. Tears had already begun to well in Buck's eyes, and suddenly, he'd looked so fucking young. "Sorry, Eds. I didn't—I just didn't want to worry you—stupid me, right?" The not-laugh that followed made him feel sick.

    --or--

Buck hiding an injury causes Eddie to say something he regrets, which hurts Buck deeply, and he needs to find a way to repair the damage.

    Summary

Love isn’t always best seen in gifts or grand gestures; sometimes love shines brightest in the quiet moments, hidden amongst the boring and mundane of life.

Buck discovers something about Eddie the first time he uses his shower: a bottle of dish soap on the edge of the tub, next to a sponge.

And it left a whole lot of feelings to unpack, plus some shopping to do.

Lips pursing, his brows knit together as he angled his head, staring at Eddie. Maybe some part of his brain thought it would make it easier to understand the man in front of him—to make sense of this shit—if he kept tilting it. Because right now, he couldn’t fathom how this man survived so long if it was true.

And fuck, if this wasn’t making his heart feel a little bruised.

So, taking a breath, he flicked his gaze between the shower and Eddie one more time, then said, “Just—I mean—just to be clear, you use dish soap, specifically the store brand version of Dawn, to wash yourself every day—like on purpose? Actual purpose.”

Eddie looked confused again, and that alone unsettled him slightly. Because it implied this was normal to the man.

    Summary

"Hm. I noticed you here the other day. Bad week?" The man questioned, leaning against the bar. He didn't seem to know how to take a hint, but Buck didn't care all too much, so he sighed and met the stranger's eyes again.

"You could say that. If the week included the past—almost three months." Buck picked his drink up off the counter, taking a long swig in an attempt to stave off the awkwardness. His face scrunched in disgust at the taste, and he blinked rapidly in shock as he pulled it away from his mouth. Salt?

Buck shoots him a nervous look before focusing on the road again. “You said you didn’t want a ready-made family. I didn’t wanna overstep.”
For a few seconds, Eddie just stares at him before he blurts out, “I didn’t mean you.”

    Summary

“Christopher,” he says, and Christopher makes a little noise on the other end, like he’s hurt— “Christopher, what happened? Where are you?”

“School,” Christopher says, and there’s something odd about the way he’s breathing, a little hitch that isn’t usually there. Eddie’s hands are steady, still, when he types in the address. “Outside, at the—the front door. It fell.”

or, christopher calls 911. eddie picks up.
