“Once, for a thousand winters and more, I had thy predecessor beside me to shadow my every move.” She starts softly, long fingers caressing sun tanned skin with slow carefulness, despite the strong hold. “In time, she learned the meaning of the fourteenth seat, of our work, but so too did she learn what it meant for us to be of the same ilk in a world so bent on perfection.”
The Warrior of Light, ever fabled hero of the present, dares not to challenge the past itself. She fights not the hold or lean away as the goddess – her goddess – leans much closer than she should, their breaths mingling at such unexpected proximity.
“V-Venat…” She mumbles, closing her eyes as the much, much taller woman leans down, nearly nuzzling her cheek.
“Never did I tell thee of the relationship we had, my warrior.” She whispers, a quiet secret between the two of them. “Within common knowledge, an apprentice shadowing a member of the convocation hardly ever fostered such… personal bonds with their mentor.”
