“Shut up,” Steve says, reflexively, elbowing Eddie in the side.
“Don’t worry, Harrington. I’ll keep the secret that you’re a softie. Worst kept secret in Indiana, though, mind you.”
“You’re an ass,” Steve says, and Eddie laughs. After a beat Steve asks, “which one said he needed courage?”
“The lion?”
Steve snaps his fingers. “That guy. If I’m a tin man, that’s you.”
A smile pulls at the corner of Eddie’s mouth. “You’re a tease, Harrington.”

A few months after Vecna had been defeated and everything in Hawkins started coming back to normal, Steve began thinking of finally moving out of his parents' house and starting with a clean slate. The problem was him being completely broke since his job at Family Video could actually be considered lower than low-paid. And there was noo way he'd be asking for any financial help from his parents as he'd already fucked up every single expectation that they had from him. So, he was really slim on the options here… Except what if he found a flatmate who needed this as desperately as him?

Summary
Almost a year on from the final battle with Vecna, Eddie and Steve have fallen into a comfortable friendship. Steve is ticking along quite nicely, until a song that he loves causes feelings to surface that he's repressed for close to a year. And then, a confession triggers those same feelings to come to fruition. Although fearful to expound his desires and put his heart on the line, he can no longer stay silent, especially when the cause of those desires is singing his favorite song to him, up on stage, looking like a fucking God.

Steve looks up, apparently doing the calculations in his head. “Uhh.. getting on for a year now I guess? Why?"Eddie exhales heavily. “In that year, how many times have you heard me talk about girls-?”
Steve’s brows furrow.
“How many dates have I been on with a girl-?”Steve’s mouth opens, then shuts again.
Eddie looks at him, waiting for the penny to drop.
He’s apprehensive, but he knows he can trust Steve with his life.
