“It isn’t that,” Comes the reply, too quickly, “I… appreciate it, I do. But you are who the people want to see. I’m just…” He considers the thought for a moment, something only slightly bitter curling his lips upwards, “A hanger-on.”
Jayce tries to manage a huff of irritated laughter but finds himself unable to, far too perplexed by the ludicrous claim to properly respond. Instead, he draws close, eyes off the brace still fastened to Viktor’s leg. “But you aren’t, you know you aren’t.”
He regards Viktor with a trembling lip, watching him as he leans back on the bed in a casual attempt to shift out of his space. Jayce reaches out, but stops the motion with a start.
OR
Jayce invites Viktor to a Gala. Viktor rejects the offer... for all of five minutes.
