Neal had insisted (pleaded with big blue puppy dog eyes)

Neal splayed on the floor, eyes closed, skin ashen. Neal’s dark hair was a mess, suit coat long abandoned and Peter could see red marks on his neck

lifting Neal’s perfectly chiseled chin. Even unconscious, he was undeniably handsome and so young it made Peter’s heart ache.

Neal gazed up at him with wide eyes

“No,” Neal whispered, fear trickling out

Neal peered through one of his hands, his bright blue eyes peeping between slender fingers almost like a little kid

Peter looked down at his favorite yellow tie. The one he had worn both times he’d caught Neal Caffrey.

Mozzie’s outlook on visiting the hospital began to brighten. A grinch-like smile spread

“Hiya Mozzzz!!!” Neal grinned and waved, clearly high

“I was wondering how you were supposed to converse with him in that suit,”

“I’d think that Peter was my dad.”

Mozzie smiled sadly as he dropped the key in the depths of his pocket, “What key?”
Neal’s face fell, “I’m worse off than I thought.”

starling Peter so much that he leapt across the hallway

repressed the instinct to run to Neal’s bedside and hug him, to ruffle that unruly hair

Neal’s cheeks grew red, hands flying to his temples, looking alot like a young child

everything came pouring out in hot tears down his handsome face

he closed his eyes and held the kid close. Neal may not remember this moment once his amnesia cleared..
    but Peter would.

    “Hello, Suit.”
    “Hello, Hazmat Suit.”

"Humph," Mozzie grunted, "If you must."

Perhaps Suits weren’t as bad as he thought they were.
    In fact,
Perhaps this Suit did have Neal’s heart in mind.

Neal cleared his throat and sat up straight, his eyes widening.

“What’s wrong?” Peter asked, noticing the change in Neal’s demeanor.

“I just realized that I have the kind of sore throat that taking a sip of water doesn’t fix,” Neal replied, probing around his neck to see if his lymph nodes were inflamed yet.

Peter rolled his eyes and pointed to the stacks of files in front of them. “Get back to reading."

“He’s sound asleep on your desk. It’s actually quite adorable.”

“He looks so young when he’s asleep.”

Neal shrugged and then winced, like the action had hurt him

rubbed at the tight muscles below his hairline, and felt him turn to putty

kissed the top of his head. “Always an overachiever.”

“Because Mr. Caffrey bit Dr. Franklin.”
“Bit him,” Sara echoed, unable to help herself, “like, with his teeth?”

Sara laughed. “I think that’s apology 397, Caffrey.”
“Oh, he apologized once while you were in the restroom. So really it’s 398,” Dr. Franklin teased. “I’m just glad today’s appointment was bite-free and more relaxing for you.”

Sara said, swooping in to wrap Neal’s arm over her shoulders and hoist him up out of the chair. “I think Dr. Franklin has had more than enough from you for a while. Let’s go home, shall we?”

“You are my girlfriend, you know.”

Girlfriend or no girlfriend, Sara drove carefully with the radio playing softly in the background and let him sleep

he had very few bad habits (other than the felony, forgery, thievery, and confidence games, but those weren't exactly health risks

Fortunately, within half an hour Hughes had saved them from Peter's obvious insanity

Neal and Jones ran inside with the most expensive of the equipment

"Dibs on the couch," Neal said, sinking down onto it. He felt weirdly out of breath

called Mozzie and got transferred through three different routing posts before he finally reached voicemail

it wasn't like he had the privacy to curl up under a blanket and wait

Neal tried to get up, failed, tried again

Neal just stared, a little horrified by the broken glass around his feet

his foot kept almost-missing the next step, and when he finally reached the top he was winded

“Neal, this is what I'm supposed to do for my people. Strip."
    "What?" Neal asked.

his fingers wouldn't cooperate, and when he looked down at them they were shaking.
"I'm sorry, I can't..." he closed his eyes, because tears of frustration were threatening.

He struggled up and fumbled with his belt

warm fingers cupped over his ear. God, his ears were cold.

"Hundred and two. You don't mess around, do you?"

He rubbed the edge of Neal's ear with his thumb

"Well, the couch is yours, don't let Satch bully you off it. TV's yours too if you're bored, unless Diana wants to wrestle you for it.”

Neal was sweating again, almost thrashing now

Neal's eyes flew open, panicked, and he shoved himself backwards with a start

"How did you -- I don't -- " Neal gasped out, looking around wildly

He made a short, shrill, desperate noise that Peter never wanted to hear again, and jerked

It wasn't shivering, now -- Neal was trembling, frightened of some unseen thing

stilling his head with one hand. Neal was sobbing and coughing at the same time, clinging to him.

no wonder Neal was terrified. If he was seeing the elephants from that stupid Dali painting...

Neal stared down at the phone like it was magic

"Don't take your eyes off the phone," Peter said, and Neal looked back down hurriedly, nodding

Neal tried to help, which was more of a hindrance, but finally Peter got him untwisted

Neal, who was curled up with the phone clutched to his chest

Neal immediately slid up against him, burrowing into his chest

"You gave him your phone for his fever?"

There was a thump from upstairs, and everyone looked up

“see if one of you can get Satchmo to go outside."
Jones held up his hands. "We're not speaking to each other. He knows what he did."

He seemed perplexed and a little surprised by the apple, but at least he was eating

Neal shook his head wretchedly. Jesus.

he'd go in, Neal's dignity be damned, and make sure he hadn't passed out

Before he could process why the hell he'd be unconscious with Peter's phone in his hands

this was Peter and Elizabeth's bedroom. So, probably not a kidnapping, unless Peter had unplumbed darkness in his soul.

trying for careless, probably hitting somewhere closer to please don't leave me alone

"and you'll be wearing my underwear to your eternal rest."

"Hi, sweetie," she said, wrapping an arm around him briefly and kissing the crown of his head

"I can take a cab," Neal said.
    "And abscond with my underwear?"

    and found his phone gone.
    "That little bastard,"

He snuck one hand out, lifted Peter's phone out of his pocket casually

    Contented, Neal slept
