Summary
It wasn't Jayce, not quite. This man looked years older, ragged, as if he had walked through all hells to come here, greasy hair, grown-out beard, scraped up and swaying. There was a glint in his eyes, one that spoke of violence and pain. A hammer was in his hand, rainbow core pointed straight at Viktor.
Instead of appearing several months after the wild rune took him, Jayce lands in the past and decides to take out Viktor before he can turn into the monster he saw in the future.

“You always had such a lovely mind,” Viktor says, stroking his hair. He’s curled against Viktor’s legs, small and distorted with pain, and even in his shakiness he laughs.
“Used to,” he says.
Viktor keeps stroking his hair. “You still do,” he says, unfazed. “Pain can never take it from you. Not in a way that matters.” He kisses Jayce’s hands. “Don’t let it matter.”

Link is back. If the clucks to the horse following behind him as they crossed the bridge aren't indication enough, then the dripping blood would be. He’s not riding because the saddle has animal carcasses slung over it. There’s a dripping bag on one side that could be wet clothes…but is probably monster parts.
Bolson’s alone today, relaxing by the fire between jobs. Link doesn’t even look at him as he leads the horse toward the stable lean-to. Nor does he unload his cargo normally. Instead, he shoves the whole mess off over the saddle and leaves it where it sits.
