Karl sat next to him, half a meter away, and fidgeted with the ends of his shirt. It took Sapnap’s attention almost immediately, an easy way out of the upsetting silence.
“Is that my shirt?”, he asked, quickly clearing his throat again, it sounded like a pathetic mumble. It’s not like he was nervous or jealous or doubtful, not at all.
Karl looked at him, hummed in question and then answered, “Uhm, yeah.”
“I kept it,” he elaborated, though that much was already clear, “‘cause you didn’t want it back, I use it as a sleeping-shirt now." He looked down at his own lap and chewed on his bottom lip.
"Oh," Sapnap just breathed out, it hitched and he felt it in his chest.

Info on the title so the Americans don't click away: Calais is a city in France, close to the border with Belgium. From Calais, an underwater train-rail starts that connects France with the UK. The railway ends in Kent. The coastlines of Calais and Kent have chalk cliffs, and their contrast with the grass on top of the cliffs is gorgeous. (Google the White Cliffs of Dover if you'd wanna see it for yourself, I'm too tired to give a detailed description :)). I like to imagine that the village this oneshot takes place in, is somewhere on those cliffs.
