Summary
You can do it. Just get out of the car. Just pull the handle, open the door, and put your feet on the concrete. That’s all you have to do. Think about the rest after. Just do that. Just pull the fucking handle, Eddie.
Fifteen minutes he’s been sitting in the goddamn car at the bottom of Steve’s driveway, tucked behind the hedge so nobody can see him. Luckily, nobody has walked past yet to witness him, in all of his humiliating glory, unsuccessfully peptalking himself into moving. It’s not that he hasn’t made any progress. He has actually managed to turn off the engine and take his seatbelt off.
The problem is, that all he can see in his head is the younger version of himself and the van he almost crashed—the hedge he almost crashed into and ruined. He’s not even sure what happened to the van. He never asked for it back. Never wanted it. Without the band and the need for a spot to smoke weed, it was kind of useless and the memories too painful. He hopes Steve scrapped it. It’s what it deserved.Eddie struggles after the events of the Upside Down, and it takes leaving to heal. Five years later, he comes back.

Summary
Eddie takes a breath and lets his hand fall. Goes back to thumbing at the peeling corner of the label on his beer bottle.
“I thought I needed to be punished. For what happened with Kim. I thought that’s what I deserved.” Buck wants to protest—say that’s not true—but Eddie knows him well enough to level him with a look that tells him not to before he even opens his mouth. “It didn’t feel like enough, what he asked me to do. So I left. And then I ran into him at this juice place. He noticed that I swapped the juice for water. Told me I was denying myself joy. Called me on being scared of being a failure, and about the mustache being a disguise.”
“He got all that from juice?” Buck asks.
Eddie laughs. It’s small, at first—self-conscious—but then he really gets going, and Buck can only watch on, equal parts amused and concerned, until Eddie’s wiping his eyes and sighing, gazing off into the middle distance.
“Yeah, he got all that from juice. Kind of.”***

Summary
The well had been torture. A test from god. He’d climbed out of one all those years ago and he’d known he needed to be a better man. A better father. He’d tried. He’d swam out of there, through the darkness and with his lungs burning, for Christopher. For Buck. To make sure that he kept his promise to his son. He couldn’t go anywhere. Not without him. To make sure that if, for some reason, he couldn’t make it back, Christopher and Buck would never have to be alone. That they would always have each other.
Maybe it’s that thought that does it. Buck’s presence and that thought. The blankness inside him—that dull, empty void—floods like lungs forty feet underground, and it’s too much. It brims out of him, leaks from his eyes, shuddering under his skin hard enough to make his lip shake, and he catches the hitch in Buck’s breath; the barely there aborted movement of unwrapping his arms, ready to approach. It must be something in Eddie’s gaze, reflected, bouncing from Eddie to glass to Buck—something always between them, always in the way–that stops him, and for the first time in hours, Eddie speaks—quivering, and tight, and broken.
“I don’t know who I am anymore.” -

Summary
“I don’t know, Frank, okay? I don’t know how it made me feel because they never let me feel anything. If I felt anything it meant I was weak, right? A failure. It meant I wasn’t a man. And I thought I’d gotten past that. I thought the last time, with the panic attacks, and talking to my dad, I thought it meant I was fixed. I thought I was a new man, but it turns out I’m not. I’m still every bit the disappointment they always knew I was, and I don’t know how I feel about it because nobody ever taught me how.”
Frank smiles proudly and Eddie kind of wants to scream in his face and tell him to stop.
“Well, Eddie, I think you’ve just had what’s known in the therapy world as a breakthrough.”
“Yeah, well, I hate it.”***OR***
Eddie goes back to therapy to figure out what's broken in him and how to repair his relationship with his son. Along the way he figures out his sexuality, stands up to his parents, fixes things with his sisters, and figures out how to get the love of his life.

Summary
"Come on, Buck. Let it out. I hate this, too. I hate leaving you. Tell me how much you hate it. Yell at me, Buck. Come on, yell at me,” he begs.
Buck snaps. He pushes off the couch and crowds into Eddie’s space.
“Is this what you wanted?” He spits, pushing hard enough against Eddie’s chest that he takes a step backwards. “Hmm? You want me to lose it on you?”
Or, Eddie cannot handle Buck pretending to be fine about his move to Texas. He, in fact, refuses to let him.

Summary
“What,” Buck says after Eddie’s been looking for a while.
“Is that a fantasy of yours?” Eddie’s hands are creeping under his shirt.
“Is what?”
“I don’t know. Weird inspections. Me in uniform. Ruined orgasms. Et cetera.”
or, Buck and Eddie have some fun with orgasm control.

Summary
Maddie has her forehead against her hands, which are clasped in what looks to be prayer. “Okay, so – hang on, so Eddie’s gay?”
“Yeah.” Buck can’t believe they’re doing this again.
“And he told you he was in love with you.”
“Right,” Buck says.
“And you…” Maddie peeks up at him. “You’re in love with him?”
“Absolutely.”
Maddie draws in a long breath, and she splits her hands to pillow her face. “But you turned him down and told him you wanted to wingman for him instead?”
OR
Eddie confesses. Buck handles it poorly.

Summary
“Dude, I peed in your sink one time,” Eddie says conversationally, and Steve chokes.
Hoarsely, he manages, “What?”
Eddie shrugs, lips twitching. “Yeah. Back in 85’, I think. In my defence, I was high as balls. I, uh, I couldn't find the bathroom.”
Steve blinks, then blinks again. “Are you saying you broke into my house to… take a leak?”
Eddie laughs, the sound rich and deep. “Nah, man. You were throwing a party. I was dealing. I sampled my own goods and got a little fucked.” He clicks his tongue. “A mistake I never made again.”
“Oh.” Steve tries to wrap his head around the bizarre image of Eddie standing on the tip of his toes with his dick out, aiming his stream into the sink. “Okay. Okay, I—right.”
“Sorry,” Eddie says, not sounding particularly sorry at all. “Did I make it weird?”
