Max’s ears rang as he blinked, trying to regain his bearings. His car had come to a violent stop, the front end buried in the barrier, the nose crumpled beyond recognition. His body ached, but the adrenaline coursing through his veins dulled the pain.
And then he saw the Ferrari.
"Charles!" Max shouted, his voice hoarse and cracking. There was no response. The cockpit was still eerily quiet, no movement, no sign of the driver attempting to climb out.
