When he's five years old, Arthur meets a woman who tells him she's going to give him a gift. Shortly after that, he starts seeing the world through the eyes of a peasant named Emrys. It means a lot to Arthur, to have a friend like Emrys, but it's not until years later, when a young man named Merlin arrives in Camelot, that Arthur realises quite how great a gift he's been given.
