“She was,” Ekko responded — absurdly, he knew, to her, but achingly true to him, as he gazed up at Powder, with her shining smile and her bright eyes that he had so adored over his weeks with her. “I’m — I’m sure of it,” he added on hastily, if only so that he didn’t get sent back to a healer to get his brain checked.
(Or: After everything, Vi comes to find the Boy Savior, who has memorialized someone only he remembers, and yet someone who they both had lost.)

"I brought you here, for space," Ekko explains when Jinx drags herself out of his lap, stands on shaky legs to get a better look. "Uh, sorry, I just thought the crowd was overwhelming you."
"Why do you care?" Jinx rasps, her voice scratching against her throat. "Why did you bring me to your space in the first place?"
"It's what I told you," Ekko says, so gently, more gently than Jinx thinks she's ever deserved. "And I… I've given up on you, before. I don't want to make that mistake again. Okay?"
