Summary
Goro Akechi is the lost heir to the throne of Japan. His father is Emperor Masayoshi Shido, who tried to have Goro killed when he was 8 years old. Unbeknownst to Shido, Goro survived and has been in hiding for the past decade. Now, having received the power of Persona, Goro Akechi has returned to Tokyo in order to enact his revenge and seize the throne.
At least, that's what he wants to do. Goro is alone, and that means he can't move the way he pleases. Fortunately, the arrival of his childhood friend and devoted knight, Akira Kurusu just made his job a whole lot easier.
Now, Goro can actually start mobilizing.

Summary
At age fourteen, Kurusu Akira kills the only cognitive psientist to object to Shido’s methods under the latter’s orders. His hand doesn’t tremble as he pulls the trigger, but his heart breaks. Still, it’s worth it. It’s the first step towards freedom, and more importantly, his revenge.
Two years later, cursed child Akechi Goro is caught shoplifting, and after a brief chase gets slammed into the pavement by three police officers double his size. The only reason he can't slip out of their grasp is because he hasn't eaten in three days. It earns him a one-way ticket to Tokyo.
(Or, Akechi leads the Phantom Thieves of Hearts while Akira is the Detective Prince. Despite that change, however, Crow is still Crow, and Joker is still Joker.)
