The story goes that on the day each of the Black cousins were born, four crows were seen lurking outside the windows of their ancestral homes.
What the story doesn’t mention, however, is that a few hours after their birth, only one crow ever remained, cawing at the forlorn babies, left to their own devices.
And on Regulus’s fifth Yule, seven crows lined up outside 12 Grimmauld Place to bear witness to the madness which eked out from the floorboards and the cracks beneath the doors.
