Summary
“Okay!” Sheriff Tim Breaker claps his hands together sharply, and a few bleary-eyed officers around the meeting table blink in surprise. The late morning sunlight filters in through cracked shutters. Lazy drafts of dust catch the light, filtering down to mugs of coffee and scattered, sparse reports. A bright yellow flier stands out among them, with BRIGHT FALLS BBQ in WordArt emblazoned on the top.
Tim Breaker tries to involve his hobbies with work. To varying degrees of success.

Ben Mott had spent most of his life trying to prove himself right. Now, he found himself answering to the beck and call of Emil Hartman, all because he needed to prove him wrong.
He wanted his approval.
Maybe it was the same thing.
But he still had a chance, running out into the night again, looking for Wake, ready to adjust the demands.

Summary
He looks back over to Tim, then follows his intent gaze to the table in front of him. A smile pricks at the edge of his mouth as he watches him take a wooden spoon and stir something in a small ceramic pot, perched precariously on a hot plate.
It has a quaint little painted pattern on it, with a matching kettle next to it. He can see the steam coming from the pot, watching as he stirs at… something. It smells amazing.
“Oh, thanks,” Tim glances up at him and smiles. Alan hadn’t realized he said that out loud. “It’s not the bes— oh wow, are you okay?” His expression shifts suddenly, dropping the wooden spoon against the wall of the pot.
