Summary
Calum popped the end of the straw out of its wrapper, sliding it free and then balling it up and tossing it aside. He pulled his cup closer, finding the divot in the center and punching it through. There was a honking squeak as the plastic rubbed together before the straw was fully into place.
He almost missed the small whimper of the person sitting across the table across from him, but the way they pulled their legs together was far more obvious.
Calum smirked, wrapping his lips around the tip of the straw and pulling up the liquid. It was some sugary soda, the carbonation sharp and sparkly on his tongue, but he focused all his attention on the boy sitting across from him.
He was so pathetic, and sent a shiver of thrill through Calum’s system. The boy looked exhausted, but that was to be expected. They had just come from the hospital, and the heavy bags under his eyes made it obvious that even though he had spent a couple hours under anesthesia, he hadn’t slept well otherwise, a thick bandage plastered on one cheek.
