Summary
How can someone recover when everything around them is falling apart?
Having escaped his home at the cost of a seemingly unrecoverable loss, Bennett has to navigate a land that is not only unfamiliar to him, but also ignorant of the Abyss’s growing influence.
The nation of Liyue is under threat from an enemy they are unaware of, and the duty somehow falls onto the unlucky adventurer to warn them in time, and give a chance to fight back from a potential invasion from the north.
That’s if he can overcome his own trauma first.
The hopeless world envelopes him, and in order to survive it he must find the hope it hides, before it is gone forever.

In the wake of a disastrous Ludi Harpastum thanks to his bad luck, Bennett had concluded that things couldn’t possibly get any worse.
That was quickly proven wrong when he found a close friend brainwashed by the Abyss. With it his first step was taken into a new world.
A hopeless world.
Surviving would be hard. Freedom would be almost impossible. But Bennett wanted to believe.

But trying to survive a situation where most of Teyvat's inhabitants are turned into mind-controlled slaves who follow the Abyss's command is harder. A lot harder.
Stuck in a world that is taken over by the Abyss, and hunted by those he considered friends and family, Bennett has to spend each day hoping that the next would be one where the Order's been stopped, and everyone freed.
Finding hope in a hopeless world might be considered pointless, but that's never stopped him before.

fischl is an eccentric outcast who claims to be an esper but is also the school council prez at the same time; bennett is the weird new kid at an inazuman private junior high for troubled kids; and also theres a manipulative russian girl.
(or: fischl makes a deal with bennett that shell protect him from bullies with her psychic powers if he agrees to be her friend. except, it turns out to be a way bigger deal than that. in both directions.)
