Summary
Steve Harrington has turned out to be a lot like a stray cat―the particular genre of stray cat Lonnie insisted Frog was: The kind that’s not really a stray at all, but looks so cute and sweet and pitiful that you can’t help yourself.
Once Jonathan paid him a little attention, he wouldn’t go the hell away. It was impossible to just ignore him, since he seemed to like being ignored―it must’ve been the thrill of the chase. There was a solid six months where he was almost always on the phone or in Jonathan’s bedroom, flipping his fucking hair around and drawling translate this for me, Byers. What’s our friend Robert Smith saying?
Jonathan has tried throwing rocks at him, metaphorically speaking; he’s been mean and he’s been honest; he’s left the most pessimistic parts of himself in charge.
And somehow, despite it all, Steve is still here.

Summary
If Jonathan wasn’t manning the projector or the lights, they were usually lumped into these things together. Every interaction, without fail, went like this:
STEVE: Hey, man. What brings you here?
JONATHAN: (Unintelligible, a weird mix of growling and hissing)
STEVE: What was that?
JONATHAN, now visibly disgusted: Photography club.
Anything beyond that was categorically ignored. Steve never even got to the stuff he really wanted to ask―I thought you were moving; how come you don’t need glasses yet; is it true Nancy dumped you, because join the club.

Summary
Steve Harrington seems determined to die a hero’s death.
Jonathan can’t imagine there’s any other reason for him to always be there, in the middle of things, flinging himself at monsters armed with a baseball bat and a prayer.
So it must be because he knows that one day, his scrappy youthful heroism isn’t going to be enough. There’ll come a monster that none of his half-dozen varsity sports teams prepared him for, or a government agent with a silencer and infallible aim. One of these days, something or another is going to send him off to Valhalla. It’s inevitable.

Summary
Once the door thuds shut behind them, Rhaenyra finally turns and faces her fully. Alicent straightens her spine and rolls her shoulders back, though she stops short of preening outright. The full weight of Rhaenyra’s eyes on her, narrowed now to angry slits, makes her heart stutter in her chest.
Alicent clears her throat. She has rehearsed this dozens of times since she donned a hooded cloak and fled her guard under cover of night, mouthing the words to herself as she vomited in the belly of an unmarked merchant ship.
Before she can begin, Rhaenyra says, “Kneel.”

Summary
If the cut had been seen to, there would be a bandage; perhaps a stitch or two, at the deepest parts. There would not still be a crust of dried blood along the length of it.
Once she releases him, he tucks his hand into the folds of his cloak. “I cut myself while mounting Vermax.” He pauses, clearing his throat. “In my haste to return home.”
“It is a clean cut,” Baela replies. “The cleanest I have seen from dragon scales. Moondancer’s are quite rough―almost serrated.” She has sunk to a crouch beside him, with her eyes fixed on the horizon. “Like the edge of a knife.”

Summary
Stifling a frustrated growl, Otto resumes his typing.
Alicent Hightower is STRAIGHT. She is a heterosexual woman. Stop spreading misinformation that could harm her. She is a godly woman who prays every night and attends mass every Sunday. She is NOT a practitioner of homosexuality!
Better. No insults, just clean, straight — pun intended — facts. He hits the ‘send’ button and waits for the likes and retweets to pour in.

Summary
As they flew, Rhaenys watched her granddaughter. Her curls had been blown free from their pins, streaming in the wind, and she had raised a hand to idly trace the underside of a cloud. A sudden desperation seized her. If Corlys died, Baela would be one of the last two things binding her to this life.
Rhaenys shook her head, discarding the feeling, and settled in her saddle. There were three things that she had absolute faith in: Meleys, her husband, and that it would be Baela who would inherit the Driftwood Throne, even if it killed Rhaenys to put her there.
Rhaenys pushes for Baela's claim during the Driftmark succession crisis and finds herself sharing common ground with Alicent Hightower and her strange, half-Targaryen children. As war seizes the realm, Rhaenys, Baela, and Rhaena must navigate House Velaryon to safety, fighting alongside the people always believed to be their enemy.

Summary
Jacaerys first met Cregan Stark when he was eight years of age.
It had been a cold day, unusually so for Kings Landing, but perfectly fitting for the arrival of the Stark heir from the North. Since the moment his Mother told him they would be fostering the Stark heir for a year, a boy similar in age to him, Jacaerys had been thrilled.
Or, Rhaenyra Targaryen's choice to foster Cregan Stark leads to a shift in events. However, as Jacaerys learns, some things truly are unchangeable.
