Have you ever heard of the Scythians?
A powerful equestrian people who lived in the Eurasian steppes. They were respected and feared, as they ravaged many places in their heyday. They even reached as far as Egypt, and the pharaoh of the time could only persuade them to turn back with great effort and many gifts. The Greeks wrote about them and there were even Scythian warriors who acted as a kind of police force in Athens. Darius I marched against them, without success. His son Xerxes recruited them to serve in his army. Even Alexander the Great feared resistance from them and therefore used a ruse to eliminate one of their leaders. But those glorious days are already a thing of the past. The remaining tribes have shrunk, encircled by enemies and can only ensure their survival through bloodshed. They are the wolves of Ares, they are the last of the Scythians, they are the last of a once great people.After a successful hunt, the exhausted wolves return to the pack. However, fewer wolves return than have left.

Sparta 500 BC
The Spartans were proud people and fierce warriors. Trained for their bloody craft since childhood, they were a force to be reckoned with.
But not everyone had an honourable and adventurous life ahead of them. Filomela is born a blacksmiths' daughter, and she wants nothing more than to live her simple life without her father interfering.This is basically a 300 fanfiction. I wrote this as a part of my project for the NanoWrimo last year, and it is pretty short and straightforward, hence why the chapters are pretty short.
