Summary
AU. Spike killed his third Slayer, but Dru was already dust. He's been lost, but when his supper turns out to be more than he bargained for, it leaves him hungry for something else instead. And Buffy? She's just hungry.
Takes place in an alternate universe in which Buffy isn't the Slayer (yet), just a girl with rotten luck. Spike is still an evil vampire with a big black car, leather jacket, and the capacity to be much more than just a demon.

Summary
When a grieving Buffy is asked to lend a hand for a showdown with the Big Bads in Los Angeles, she's loath to revisit a place that reminds her of all she's lost. As soon as this mission is over she's heading straight back home to wallow in her guilt, grief, and memories until she's needed again. Imagine her surprise when she doesn't have to return home alone after all.
Post-Sunnydale Buffy is struggling with grief for all she's lost. Spike is struggling with never being enough for the woman he loves. Luckily they're both idiots.

“Spike?”
An unfamiliar voice trickled into his awareness. It was dark when he set his bleary gaze upon a redheaded woman to his left. She was staring at him with shiny green eyes, fear and disbelief written on her every feature. He could do little more than stare uncomprehendingly.
“Spike?” She repeated. It suddenly occurred to him that ‘Spike’ might be his name. “Are you… what was that?”
“I…” Spike’s throat was dry; his voice crackled like a rusted radio. He tried again. “I don’t know.”

The Initiative's chip doesn't work exactly as planned, and Buffy makes the best of a bad situation.
