Summary
Mycroft Holmes has never had a life that is better than being 'fine.' He struggles with social skills and spends his weekends not speaking to anyone and only has a cactus for companionship and a brother who causes him some bother. He definitely does not get lonely, and he is completely fine.
Everything changes when he comes across Greg Lestrade, a Detective Inspector, who has a large heart that helps to repair Mycroft's damaged one. The two of them help one another through their lives of loneliness.

Mycroft had spent most of his life watching and observing those around him. What began as the habit of a reserved child over time essentially became his career. Until Greg interrupted his largely asexual existence, he had not fully recognised the extent of his voyeuristic streak. And at some point, he needed to mention that to Greg.
