And if, at the other end of that hellish void, in a world of white clouds and green jungles, he had to fight God himself to retain it - Well. As far as Shen Jiu was concerned, he had just been given a justified outlet for his rage.
As for Luffy.... How could he resist? Finding a Mystery Man with a heart as broken and drowning in despair as Ace's had been when they met all those years ago for the first time on Mount Corvo? Whose very essence screamed for freedom? He absolutely had to join his crew! No take backs!! Shen Jiu was his Nakama, and he'd kick the ass of anyone who disagreed!!
