Summary
The wolf then shook itself before retreating from the packed dirt, its panting breaths ringing loudly in the bard's ears. Jaskier's words promptly shriveled up and died on his tongue when he heard the distinct crack of bones breaking, the sharp echoing snap of the beast's joints had goosebumps erupting on the bard’s arms and legs.
Jaskier's feet thoughtlessly brought him a few steps closer to the writhing creature, which had hunched over as its skeleton rearranged itself. Each of its smothered growls and whines tugged at the bard's heart, its teeth grit as if to muffle its own sounds of pain. Jaskier swallowed thickly when the wolf's fur started to fall off in clumps, revealing the sensitive pink skin that was underneath.
The fluttering snowy strands of fur smoldered, burning away into nothing. The white locks on top of its head lengthened, the sweaty strands framing a distinctly human face. The animalistic snarling subsided when the horrible sounds stopped, leaving the stunned bard to gape at the shivering man that now sat where the beast once had.

Summary
Jaskier storms off the mountain and sets about putting his life back together. He tries a bit of everything, gets some good advice, and puts it to use. No matter how much he tries to put Geralt behind him, that SOB keeps coming back, in his mind and in his life. What's a bard supposed to do when the man he cares so deeply for, who he went to the ends of the earth for, won't do the same for him?

He cannot stop the surge of affection in his chest when he finally, finally lays his gaze on Jaskier, dressed vibrantly as always in colors that pop against the dull, dreary backdrop of the world and plucking upbeat melodies from his lute into which he weaves bawdy lyrics.
Those blue eyes find him as he steps into the tavern, and the way they light up with happiness makes them glow.
Six months is too long apart.
