If you ask Vash, he’ll say he did it out of concern. After all, he knows the crowd that shows up for every exorbitant party that the Gung Ho Guns throw. He’s run in the same circles as them. He’s dated them. Willingly walked into a myriad of traps set out by them and came out unscathed because it was him. They’re his friends but they’re also animals. Vicious and ruthless and insatiable. They would have eaten Nai up the first chance they got. Vash will say that he did what every other big brother would’ve done and tried his best to keep Nai safe. But Vash knows he’s not that selfless. Nai is greedy and selfish and he’ll do anything to get what he wants and an unsupervised space with an almost free flow of alcohol is the last place he wants to take his clingy and evil baby brother to.

“No, no,” Takemichi says gently with a smile. Apparently he has mumbled his name out aloud.
Manjirou tilts his head in question, though he immediately regrets it as the world tilts into nauseous directions. He leans his head back into plush pillows, noticing soft fabric around him but he cannot pinpoint what they are.
“You’re Hanagaki Manjirou now, Mikey-kun.”
