“Just breathe,” Michael gasped, lift-off near crushing his chest.
“You - said - that - last - night –” Alex managed, gasping for air as they hit 9 Gs. If getting to Mars was hard, leaving the red planet was harder still. But they were doing it, heading out to cowboy on Sander’s little bit of heaven on Europa, to wrangle and wrestle the sea creatures and stay the hell out of this mess of a planet with its wars and its drafts.

Based on this K/S Spring Fever 2023 prompt!
"Spock never learned how to swim but the federation just implemented new standards, he's gonna have to learn fast or sink. Kirk offers to teach him in his free time. I wouldn't be against some kind of incident happening, like almost drowning, because I can't help wanting a sprinkle of angst.... "
I wrote this with TOS in mind, but can also be AOS

“Swimming’s not something you can learn from a book,” Bones asserted gruffly. “And if you do it wrong, you might drown.”
“Thank you for what I take is concern, Doctor, however I’m sure I’ll be fine,” Spock maintained. He cocked an eyebrow. “Unless you happen to know any nearby swim instructors.”
“Forget that.” Jim stood up. He faced Spock and placed his hands on Spock’s shoulders. “I’m going to teach you how to swim.”It was as if The Enterprise was suspended in space along with everything in it: the Bridge’s activity ceased as all eyes turned towards Spock and Jim, stunned by the Captain’s proposal—and frozen still in waiting for the Vulcan’s response.
