Peter wasn't impaled by anything - always good news - but his torso had been covered in a particularly large chunk of debris since the building first went down. At first he didn't really afford much thought to it - Peter could lift something easily ten times it's weight - has lifted something easily ten times it's weight, even.
But what Peter forgot to factor in was that Peter hasn't been eating as much as he should.
