A figure appeared out of nowhere in the darkness and collided with me. I very nearly jumped out of my skin - how could that man have made it down the cliff this quickly, I was going to have to fight for my life again, was I going to die at the side of this cursed waterfall after all - but then the figure stretched out shaking hands towards me, grasping my arms, my shoulders, my face.
“Holmes! You are alive! How are you alive?”
“Watson.”
An alternative ending to The final problem, in which Watson returns to the waterfall, quite literally bumps into a still alive Holmes, joins him on his desperate flight, and never leaves him again. An asexual love story.
