Rapunzel leans into Cassandra's side, her hand coming to rest beside the warrior’s while the other lightly grips her thigh. “I don’t want to be the princess.”
Cassandra tips her head back, exposing her throat as she swallows hard, her mind whirling. Finding no words to respond, she chooses instead to bare her heart. Whether the princess’s next words would bring relief or deepen her torment, she had no control. "Then don't."
Rapunzel pulls back slightly, eyeing Cassandra from head to toe. Confusion paints her features. "What do you mean?"
"You were lost before."

Basically, an AU where Rapunzel was rescued from Gothel at 10 and grew up with Cassandra in the Castle. Basically a TTS rewrite but with a more heavy Cassunzel lens. Moonstone Cass still happens and so does Zhan Tiri. Cute Lil childhood friends to lovers with some action, adventure, and drama (and a delicious slow burn)
(Idk if this also deserves an enemies to lovers tag? Idk, what happens in this fic isn’t textbook definition of “enemies to lovers” so I didn’t add it in the tags but something similar happens here lol enjoy)
