    But when the dust settles, all is not as it seems. Old hatreds surface and the fragile peace is once again threatened. Enemies strike from the shadows and innocent lives are lost. Can Shepard protect all she holds dear?

    Elissa Cousland never expected to be a Grey Warden, but she doesn’t mind it. She can fight evil, develop her gift from her mother’s bloodline to call upon wolves, and pursue real love rather than fulfilling some grim noble duty. She has never been attracted to men, so that freedom matters to her. She just wishes her conscription had not corresponded with the loss of her whole family, or so she fears, as well as her lover.

    When she meets the bard-turned-sister, Leliana, she is sure that this will be special. Leliana has a sad past too, a betrayal by her former mentor Marjolaine and an acute regret from Lothering, but together they might be able to help each other heal. But the moral challenges during the Blight, the brutal game of Fereldan politics, and their own dark pasts won’t make it easy for either woman.
