Mr and Mrs Blythe have recently weathered a storm. Baby Jem has painted a rainbow of colour back into their lives after losing Joy. Anne is taking a break from teaching while Gilbert is extremely busy as the local doctor in Avonlea. Their sex life is on fire, continually experimental and passionate. While attending the coffee mornings at the village hall Anne suspects her neighbours are attempting to use certain code words as a hint they may require advice of a sexual nature.
