What he doesn’t expect is radio silence. He waits and waits for something to come through, for her name (a name that he can’t stand to look at and yet flows off his tongue like a prayer verse) to pop up on his screen but it never does.
He thinks about the last time he said her name, voice and heart so full of disdain and hurt, when he’d silently vowed never to use it again and how he almost wishes he could say it to her now, how he misses having someone to call mom.
