She huffs, looks me in the eye, determined. "I do." Her aura blooms in front of me, and I trace it with my eyes, finding not a hint of purple, every bit of the tapestry I'd expect to have it instead holding pink. "I really do."

She talks about mythology, archeology, and anthropology-- and she fucking glows! She shines when she's in her element. And she's *kind*. That has always been Sam's first word to describe Lara Croft. Gentle, considerate, and *kind*.
But here, in front of her, is irrefutable proof that Lara can kill people without blinking. That she can decide that an entire group of people needs to die in order for the people Lara cares about to be safe.
And Sam doesn’t know which one is the real Lara. She doesn’t know if she can be both at once, or if this new, killer-Lara has overwritten Sam’s best friend.
And Sam doesn't know how to help her.
But the worst part? The part that scares her even more than those fucking lunatics?
She isn't even sure Lara wants to be helped.
