Summary
A friend leaves, a war ends and life goes on.
But even after five years, defeating Cobra Kai, becoming a version of himself he can just about live with, graduating college and standing ready to face the unknown terrors of adulthood, Eli still hasn’t quite gotten over Miguel’s disappearance. When he and his friends take a trip to Mexico to celebrate their graduation, he’s hoping for some closure.
What he finds is Miguel.

Summary
Eli loved this particular state of being, when he wasn’t fully awake and didn’t yet have to face the many minor frustrations of life, instead he was simply able to float in that wonderful half-consciousness where he could just fully relax for once. The rest of the world might as well not exist, just him and the comfortable, quiet darkness found between dream and reality.
It was difficult to hold onto that feeling when he felt the restless shifting behind him, however.

A large circle, some people managing to claim places on the various chairs and couches dotted around the room, but most lounging on the floor, the large, empty space in the middle taken up by a single empty bottle.

The barista laughed at something the man said and he chuckled along with her, his eyes crinkling up at the corners in a way that made Eli wish he could see that grin directed at him, just once-
“You’re doing it again, Eli.”
He dragged his eyes away from the conversation happening between the person he definitely wasn’t crushing on and the woman behind the counter who he was probably friends with – given that they always chatted with each other while he was waiting for his order – and fixed them on the lines of code he was actually supposed to be working on. “I’m not.”
Demetri just gave him that look that meant he wasn’t buying any of Eli’s bullshit.
“I’m not.”

Eli has been watching the cute guy who frequents the same cafe as him from afar for weeks, wishing he had the confidence to actually try speaking to him, but change is always difficult, no matter how much you want it.

Summary
Suck with plaguing thoughts of his past, and unable to disconnect from his own mind, Hawk struggles to find his footing and to figure out who he wants to be. Miguel saves the day like always, and Eli finds himself plagued with different kind of thoughts, one’s that make him think all he wanted from the start was to prove he was someone worth something. Maybe he wanted to show that to Miguel more than others, but that didn’t mean anything.
