    Summary

Gideon tapped her lip in thought. “Wellllll, I suppose, given that you just called me striking—”

    “I didn’t call you striking, I said you’d make a striking impression—”

“—Called me striking,” Gideon said again, “and basically said I have the physique of a god…”

“I said absolutely none of the above.”

“Because you just said explicitly and in no uncertain terms that I am incredibly sexy, muscular, and the greatest swordswoman that ever lived…I guess I can be your date to God’s funeral,” Gideon said.

    OR:

Three years ago—the ten thousandth year of the King Undying, the kindly Prince of Death!—no one in the Nine Houses received a summons to Lyctorhood. Now God is dead, the saints are panicking, and Gideon is being dragged to Canaan House with Harrow to attend the funeral. Sure would be a shame if, in this time of dull mourning, Gideon were to open up a mysterious old book, accidentally steal Harrow’s powers, and pitch the entire necro-cav dichotomy into utter chaos…

    Summary

“This is my roommate, Gideon. She has a filthy mouth, and she wears only as many clothes as is strictly necessary, but please know that she is very dear to me.”

There was a joke in there that Gideon wanted desperately to explore, but she was struggling to decide if she wanted to yell or run away. She settled on the third option: neither.

“Nah, fuck that,” she growled, pointing the spatula like a sword at the tiny, emo interloper.

“Get that snitching-ass gremlin the fuck outta here.”

    Summary

“We’ve known each other for two years and you thought I was straight that whole time?” Harrow was staring at Gideon in blatant disbelief.

“Um, worse actually. I thought you were homophobic,” Gideon said, cringing.

“What!?” Harrow’s voice was nearly a shriek.

Gideon gets trapped in an elevator with her least favorite person and she learns some things about making assumptions.

It figures that the only college with the badass Cavalier program is also the college that Harrow Nonagesimus wants to attend. Oh well. Campus is big, right? She'll probably never see that pointed little face again.
