“Bruce Wayne,” she says, voice wrapping around the individual sounds in the most captivating way. “I am Diana Prince. And you?”
He almost says something, something like ‘you clearly know my name’, but then Clark is replying, sounding timid and embarrassed, “Clark Kent, ma’am.”
“A very nice name. And a very nice accent. Where are you from?”
“Kansas, ma’am.”
She smiles, and it’s genuine, like she actually cares that Clark Kent is a country boy. Then she reaches out and puts a hand on his (rather large) bicep. And then (and this is where Bruce’s brain nearly fries), she turns to Bruce. Her attention is on him, but she’s keeping Clark here, too. They’re both looking at him, Diana with interest and Clark like he’s trying to figure something out about him. He can’t say he’s unaffected by either of them.
“Your son, Dick, just told me something rather interesting.”

Summary
Batman is the embodiment of vengeance, crafted out of living shadows and the hearts of the unavenged. The world's greatest detective, creepiest cryptid, and all-round Scary Guy, there's nothing he can't handle. At least, not until nine-year-old Dick Grayson shows up and Batman has to figure out how to be a dad.
Armed with a new civilian identity, the deceased Wayne family's fortune, and an all-powerful butler cryptid just as confused with humanity as he is, Batman (now Bruce) is ready to take the world by storm... He probably should've gotten some more outside sources to base his civilian personality on, though. Listening to Dick was all well and good, but nobody was quite ready for Brucie Wayne.

Pete wracked his brain—he didn’t remember turning the light on. He knew the layout of his house, so he usually didn’t bother looking for a light switch on his way outside.
Well, shit. Pete headed towards the kitchen instead and slowly slid his butcher knife out of the stand, gripping it in one shaking hand. He wondered what the last thing he’d said to Carole and Bradley was. Probably something like, “Love you, bye.” That was good.

Summary
