Summary
Izzy could still hear splashing noises below, but the voice had stopped. Shit. He looked back over the rail and saw that the ship was pulling ahead of the struggling boy. Another few minutes, and he would be behind the stern. God dammit. Izzy tossed a ladder down and let it drift back to Lucius, who didn’t seem to notice it. Izzy leaned as far over the railing as he could, hissing “Grab the fooking ladder you stupid twat!” Finally, he saw Lucius flail over to the bottom of the ladder and grab onto it. “Shut up!” he said, to ward off any noise. “If he hears you, he really will kill you. Now climb up.” After a moment, he heard Lucius half sob “I don’t think I can.” “If you don’t get your ass up here… You. Will. Die.” Lucius slowly climbed the ladder, having to stop part way up to rest. When he finally got to the top, he collapsed onto the deck after Izzy pulled him over the rail.

Summary
Az always knew that he’d be thrown out the moment his father found out he was gay. He hadn’t expected to be declared dead though - or for his husband to believe it!
But their marriage had been a foolish teenage impulse (not to mention invalid in America), so when Az moved to a small town far upstate New York to start his new life, he moved alone. The kindest thing he could do was let Crowley mourn and move on, not be shackled for life to a now disabled partner.
Tony Crowley never recovered from losing his best friend, his childhood sweetheart, his better half. He’d been drifting ever since; no plans, no hope, no money - and now, just before Thanksgiving, no job either.
