Summary
With swirling thoughts, and dread starting its ever familiar climb up his throat, a saying came to mind: Today begins the first day of the rest of your life. He wasn’t sure if that was the original saying, but Ochako had repeated it so many times that the phrase was ingrained into his mind. When asked about it, she had told her friends that it was something her dad would always say when he thought a new chapter of their lives was starting. He had apparently said it when she received her UA acceptance letter, and he had shouted it to the whole class at graduation while his wife took pictures of Ochako in her gown.
When Izuku thought of the phrase now, he did not feel the reassurance it usually brought, but a fierce sorrow that draped his already heavy shoulders and left his hands shaking. The rest of his life…
