    When Charles first walked in, the nerves had been written all over him, etched into every small movement. His hands fidgeted at his sides, fingers twisting together before darting to push a strand of hair behind his ear. His lips, already bitten red, trembled slightly as he stood in the doorway, unsure, his big green eyes wide and almost glassy. The sight had made something in Sebastian’s chest clench painfully, an ache he couldn’t quite name.

    “Come here,” Sebastian said softly, stepping forward and cupping Charles’ face between his palms. His thumbs stroked along the ridge of his cheekbones, the warmth of his hands grounding, reassuring.

    Charles had let out the faintest sound, something between a sigh and a whimper, as Sebastian tilted his face up, angling his chin just so. He pressed their lips together, a kiss that was wet and deliberate, soft enough not to scare him but firm enough to make Charles’ knees go weak.

    “Mäuschen,” Sebastian smiled at him, before kissing him again.
