Maverick had never thought that he was ever going to have kids, he really had never thought that he was going to find anyone that would be willing to put up with him but when he met Thomas Kazanksy in 1983 just before flight school it had seemed a possibility of having someone to spend his life with, even if he had put his foot in his mouth. The kid had happened along the way and he'd been terrified but he'd been able to carry on because he had his family behind him along with the chaos that was Thomas Kazansky.
