“Evan? What are you doing here?”
“You will address me as Marshal Buckley while I am here on official business,” Evan said tartly, tapping a pen against his clipboard. “And I’m here regarding your results on the 217’s latest drill. Have a seat.”
“Okay.” Tommy perched on the edge of the seat, somewhere between confused and turned-on. He actually loved the way Evan looked in his little fire marshal suit, with his crisply ironed shirt and his carefully pleated pants. He polished his shoes every night and even steam ironed his tie in the morning. It was absolutely insane, to be honest, but Tommy couldn’t deny it had an effect on him. “I know my numbers weren’t great, but I still passed–”
“Not great?” Evan arched his eyebrow. “They were garbage. Passing is baseline. You’re barely at baseline. You think that’s good enough for LAFD? For Air Operations?”

Summary
Buck opened the door and immediately forgot how to speak. Jesus christ he’s tall. Buck wasn’t sure why that was his first thought, since the man was only an inch taller than him but he seemed huge in the building’s narrow hallway, a tight blue sweater stretched across his massive chest and broad shoulders. He had flowers in one hand and a card in the other, and his eyes were a shade or two darker than his sweater. Buck wasn’t sure why he noticed that in particular, except that they were the same color as the ocean after a storm and he might have been drowning in them.
“Hi.” He sounded as surprised as Buck felt. “Is Abby here?”
