Summary
Glancing down at his hands, Harry silently berated himself.
He didn’t know why he thought Hogwarts would be different. Why would he ever think he could fit in here?
A feeling crawled up Harry’s throat the longer people stared. It was one he was more than familiar with. It was as though a thousand needles were pricking at his lungs, poking through his tongue and piercing his ability to speak.
His primary school teacher called it ‘social anxiety’. Aunt Petunia called it ‘pathetic, weak, attention-seeking behavior’.

Summary
When Harry and Ron crash Mr. Weasley's flying Ford Anglia into the Whomping Willow, Ron broke more than just his wand. As he and Harry argue whether Ron should go to the hospital wing, a certain potion's professor makes the decision for them. Taking the opportunity to scold Harry before Minerva can simply slap his wrist in response to his misdeeds, Severus doesn't expect to cause the child to have a flat-out panic attack... or to notice just how thin he has gotten over the summer.

“Are you quite alright, Professor Potter?” Snape asked evenly.
“Yes,” Harry lied. “I’m fine.”
“I realize that this subject makes you uncomfortable,” Snape said, adjusting his collar, “as it does most people. However, do realize that Amelia Awlyn is not the first case of sexual abuse Hogwarts has seen, and she more than likely will not be the last. These are the sort of things one must grow used to taking care of as a teacher in this school, in any school. While we are unable to prevent these things from happening, the important thing is that we are doing all we can to help now.”
Harry wondered where all this help was when he was attending Hogwarts.
Snape glanced at Harry and sniffed. “You did the right thing in coming to me.”
Harry tried to alter his memory and imagine what it would sound like to hear those words in Dumbledore’s voice.
OR
It's Harry Potter's first year teaching DADA at Hogwarts under Headmaster Snape. It's a job that makes him feel good and put together like an adult, until a student comes to tell him something about her home life that takes Harry right back to his own troubled childhood.
