Shinichi grabs Kuroba’s jacket and starts yanking him toward the group, ignoring his annoyed muttering. In Kuroba’s defense, he’s very good at looking reassuring. It’s just a lot less effective when he’s standing next to the corpse.

She hurries down the stairs this time, and it takes him a moment (ie, finishing the setup up here) before he registers that last bit. A favor? How does she expect to call in a favor from "KID's assistant"?
… He kind of has a feeling she'll find a way, he thinks with a groan.
Kaito and Sonoko find themselves becoming friends after meeting at a heist. Kaito's not really sure how it happened, other than geez, she is stubborn when she wants to be, and saying yes to her favor is way easier than dealing with the fallout of saying no.
This starts to ripple through both their friend groups, but the side effects are 100% not their fault, obviously. Really, what's the worst that's going to happen?
