“Are you happy, Nick?”
A laugh is startled out of him at the unexpected question, springing out of his chest like a surprise. “What?”
"I mean it." Charlie drags his gaze away from their joined hands to meet Nick’s eyes. “When was the last time you were happy?”
“All the time,” Nick replies, squeezing at his boyfriend’s fingers. “I’m always happy. Especially when you’re here.”
“I’m…” Charlie hesitates, the silence broken up with a bite of his lip before he begins again. “Let’s try something okay? Let’s try some techniques to get us to be more in touch with our emotions. I think it’ll really help.”
Nick says “sure”, casually, and kisses the back of Charlie’s hand. He’ll do anything if it’ll help Charlie. And how bad can it be anyway?
