Summary
"He hadn"t considered this part when he quit. How working side by side every shift and hanging out during their aligned time off would turn into the occasional 45 minute lunch. How he would go from feeling Buck’s knee against his in the truck and his hands on his body to double check that his harness is done right to rarely seeing him, rarely touching him, and going home alone while Taylor moves in closer."
Eddie leaves the 118. Buck shows up to ask him to lunch. Everything is good, he made the right decision, and everything still hurts.

Summary
Hen said, with utmost gentleness and patience, "You know that if you told him that this was important to you, he would have found a way to be there, right?"
"I know." And Eddie did. "But I don’t want to make him choose between me and Taylor.”
Hen snorted, proving even further that his attempts to hide his dislike of Taylor weren"t fooling anyone. “Since when?”
Eddie slammed his locker shut, way more aggressively than he should have and the sound of it echoed menacingly throughout the station, only adding to his ever present frustration. “Since I realized it"s not me he"d chose first.”
Not anymore.
Or, the one in which Buck needs to decide who he wants to spend his holidays with; his girlfriend, or his best friend (and son)

Summary
“Say we want to, I don’t know…maybe you…or I, will want to let the other know that I’m safe at work, like if there’s a bad call or something.”
Eddie nodded for him to go on, Buck already reaching to tap the correct buttons.
“How about two taps means: ‘I’m safe’.”
Buck tapped his bracelet twice, the two of them watching in awe as Eddie’s lit up, vibrating where it lay over his wrist. He watched as Eddie visibly shivered; he couldn’t be sure if it was due to the magic of the bracelets, or Eddie’s fear of technology—maybe a little of both.
Buck cleared his throat, ducking his head a little as he continued.
“And maybe, we could use—4 taps to say: ‘I’m hurt, but ok’.”
Eddie looked up to him then, raising a brow.“How many taps do we need for, ‘my best friend is a dumbass and did something stupid again, and I’m not there to have his back’?”
Buck deadpanned.
“Well, that would be nineteen, to be exact.”
-or-
Buck buys him and Eddie touch bracelets, not wanting either of them to feel disconnected after Eddie leaves. They help, but the real thing is still better.
