Summary
Buck has never meant to keep it a secret from the one-eighteen. Hell, he trusts them with much more gritty, uncomfortable stuff than that. It’s more like… It hasn’t come up. There’s been no reason for it to come up.
But then he gets struck by lightning and the mix-up with his medical records happens. A nurse he hasn’t seen yet barges into Buck’s hospital room, with his entire family in it, blood and found alike, and stares at him for one dumbfounded moment before blurting out a name he hasn’t been addressed by in well over eight years. And, really, Buck could’ve brushed it off as her having walked into the wrong room, but she makes sure to add the Buckley at the end of it. Not Maddie Buckley, not Margaret Buckley, but a Buckley name that hasn’t heard the light of day in so long that most people in this room who knew of her had by now forgotten she ever existed.

Summary
“You’re scared of me?”
Eddie lowers his head, in a way Buck thought only he could make him bashful.
“Not scared of you, per se. Just scared of you thinking I’m not good enough.”
Maddie nods in understanding. “For Buck?”
“Yeah,” he exhales. “I mean, he adores you—”
Buck rolls his eyes. “I do not adore—”
“—and he cares about your opinion more than anyone’s, so if you’re not on board with us, then… I’ve basically got no chance to husband him up one day.”
“Husband me up? That’s not a saying,” Buck tells him, eyes scrunched.
___

Summary
“I was only made for spare parts, to save my brother. The success rate is 31% to 50% and I couldn't—and now she’s—”
“Buck…” Eddie murmurs softly, lifting his head more now, trying to catch his boyfriend’s gaze, but Buck’s head is turned away, his focus locked on the TV, though he’s clearly not watching it. “I’m not religious, but sometimes I think god made you just for me”
Or Christopher comes home, Buck and Eddie nearly die on a call, get engaged and then have all of their firsts, in that order.

Summary
"I used to dream about this," escapes Buck's mouth on a cozy Tuesday morning.
Buck used to imagine Eddie's grey hair; wondered if Eddie would go grey on his sides first, or maybe it'd start with a strand of hair at the top of his head. Buck would picture it in the middle of Eddie’s trademarked swoop. He'd picture it falling beautifully on his face. He'd picture himself twirling it between his fingers. He'd picture his hands getting lost, year after year, in Eddie’s saltier and pepperier hair, holding onto them, softly, firmly, desperately, any way possible.
Right now, he has no need for imagination. He simply stares at his husband.
"What," Eddie mumbles around a mouthful of muffin.
